You Fucking Bastards

I take it the bad guys won election on your side of the pond. One of the most disappointing things I've ever noticed is how the true left never seems to gain any political traction. Bill Clinton, Obama, and Jimmy Carter weren't exactly that far left of center. That Tony Blair dude didn't seem to be that good for the left when he finally got through in England. What's up with this? It can't be all about rigged elections. It must have a lot to do with old-school mind control. There's no need for HAARP zapping us in line when there's television and print that simply don't do a whit in mobilising masses of people into challenging the status quo. [/end of rant]

yes, the more obvious bastards got in this time. Nu-labour fucked it all up. They let a '97 landslide slip to near obliteration in 2010. Iraq may well have been the singular biggest issue though at the time of the election economic crisis was probably the only ballgame and the incumbents were turfed out.

They are making cuts which are unseen since the end of WW2. Apparently.

The heaviest burden seems to be falling on the poor. So as to continue the lifestyles of the affluent. Same old - only right now there's a step-change towards greater viciousness and inequality. It's a quite profound change. Again.

These people pictured are attacking "scroungers on welfare" - evwn though they themselves are the heirs of offshore (tax-free) trust funds running to millions of dollars. It's an agenda delivered by the privileged to chastise the poor, largely for the mistakes of those same privileged people.

Now it is payback time, apparently we're all in it together. [On the uptick it's every man for themselves?]

Yes, it's called corporate welfare. Those partaking it are most often the biggest critics of safety nets for the poor.

There's a bright side to when the obvious buggers get elected. I've yet to see many top leaders get much done. A guy like Obama might not be reelected, and the shame is he isn't even a true lefty but lefties will take the blame.

When your true buggers mess up, and they will, it should help your country move more solidly to the left.

The Democrats look to be throwing away a great opportunity to cement power for many decades. Even conservatives here seemed to be fed up with their own party after the GW Bush years.

I think a true move left would have been more effective. Too many of these politicians think staying in the center maximises their votes. I think the days of incumbents having in-built gravitas are over.

People want positive results. Most people don't seem to have the sophistication to truly understand the issues and what is at stake. That's what happened in the Massachusetts senate race last year. People weren't exactly giving the Republican a mandate. It was a negative vote. It was an anyone but the establishment candidate. That one in Coakley happened to be a Democrat.

Well, maybe. It took 20 years last time. And it was only a left-tinged accommodation to the new right (Thatcher, Reagan, monetarism, neo-liberalism and financialism)

I hope I am proven wrong but I don't feel confident that the wheels will turn and everything will be 'back to normal' again and maybe the left reformers can edge a bit of socialism in. I worry it's much worse than that. Oil supply for example. Environmental exhaustion/pollution too. None of the numbers add up and I fear for what we've got used to and for liberal democracy. Hopefully I'll be proven to be wrongly pessimistic. Happens more rarely than I am wrongly optimistic! :D

The hammer is certainly starting to fall. As expected, social spending takes an enormous hit. All government spending has.

A complete repudiation of Keynesianism, although now the spectre of a double-dip appears more clear they're talking about more Quantitative Easing (£50Bn cash injected into economy - whilst they just cut £80bn from spending)

Banks were levied a charge that is estimated to raise £2.5Bn, whilst social security had £20Bn cuts. Because "we are all in it together", apparently.

Even optimistic predictions put the job-losses from the cuts at 500,000. And if tax revenues don't pick-up, or worse begin to fall precipitously, then we are in deep shit.

IF there's a double-dip too then obviously the private-sector will be struggling and the extra jobless numbers are going to find it very hard to regain employment.

All this as we see increasing rhetorical attacks on the unemployed for being 'scroungers' and workshy etc - transparent efforts to manipulate public support for vicious attacks on the poorest and most vulnerable - all those who most certainly were not responsible for the financial disaster that befell us.

It feels like Thatcher's Britain again. Like the feeling I'd get seeing that sign at a demolished steelworks 30 years ago - "Thatcher's been here - it could be your job next!"

Another 20 years of it? Oh no.....

I don't think they'll get 20 years - i fear events will overcome then. Infrastructure will collapse.....

I admit it's tough to not be pessimistic.

There is a lot of private money out there we never hear about. I doubt there will be another big time depression.

I don't think the West would allow Hoovervilles to emerge again. I think if the shit hits the fan, FDR styled safety nets will be propped up rather quickly.

I don't think ptb's like riots in the streets or complete mayhem.

As to true socialism ever emerging, yeah, it looks like Marx was way off in predicting it being inevitable.

Ive been condemned for my "language" but here TLNL calls his headline "You Fucking Bastards" and no one makes an issue of it. That PROVES you two making my "language" an issue in previous posts was only meant as a deflection and diversion from the real issues and excellent questions I asked that you two dicks refused to answer.

Obviously, profanity is not a problem with you two retards.

Hello Larry - Mr I refuse to say where I stand on the teaparty Simons.

Amusing silence over the teaparty.

They're just your thing, except they've adopted that Alaskan bimbo. Now you're refuse to answer questions about it. haha.

TLNL is describing public figures. Larry uses disgusting language towards regular guy bloggers. Big difference.

Ive made my point clear on the tea party in several stories on my blog. Youre just too fucking lazy to read them. Ive made it very clear that the tea party as a movement is a very good thing, but it has been hijacked by Glenn "the dick" Beck and Sarah "I have no idea what the VP's duties are" Palin.

If you had just clicked the "tea party movement" label on my blog, you would have found your answer. Here's the link to my tea party label.
