Blair wasted an opportunity to smash the right forever in UK. He wasted a chance to make a big difference. He did some good things, but ultimately he was a sell-out.

Beyond that though - we have to blame the people themselves. Who would have voted for a more leftwing leader than Blair? I don't know that a much more leftwing party could have won an election. The public have to take responsibility for that.

The same in USA, only much more so? The public is frightened of "socialism".....though public opinion is pretty "left" on many things too.

Last night I went out in Soho with my brother. I walked back home, going right through central London and then the banking district. I was sat at 3am outside the Royal Exchange, by the Bank of England etc.....all these amazing towering buildings, with huge neo-classical columns. Amazing sense of all the majesty of Imperial England's past - the POWER. Quite incredible. Lloyd's building.....money....power.... It cost me £20 for a round of 3 vodkas.the_last_name_lefthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12276770064991215910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2904940198922843174.post-27614106005732601222009-08-13T03:34:01.010+01:002009-08-13T03:34:01.010+01:00The peacenik, intellectual, loving left is the ans...The peacenik, intellectual, loving left is the answer. It has always been. Whether you call it the Tao or whatever, Elvis Costello had the right question. What's so funny bout peace, love, and understanding. Some conservatives are ok in my book, but very few of them. One friend I dropped, because she took a long time to figure out that Bush was evil. She was blabbing about Clinton well into the 2000s. It's actually the scumbags like Clinton and Tony Blair who have the most to blame for the sudden decay. We needed real lefties at that point, not triangulation or whatever cynical nonsense they came up with to justify right wing policy dressed up as liberalism.Tokyo Shemphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01764134901412321022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2904940198922843174.post-61239227513627256932009-08-12T15:11:46.117+01:002009-08-12T15:11:46.117+01:00Yeah - I like the line I came up with parodying th...Yeah - I like the line I came up with parodying the truthers "Everything you were taught was lies (except all the bad stuff about socialism - that was all true!)

Ridiculous, isn't it?

I posted a lot of comments at prisonplanet the other day, on one of Larry's stories criticising Neiwert. My posts were about how opposing taxation is what the elites and wealthy want them to do....how taxing them for healthcare is good etc. Pointing out Alex J supports elitism, he opposes redistribution......he supports inequality....he's protecting big pharma, the insurance companies, the corporations, the banks, the elites.....how his friends are all nazis....how socialism means equality....how it means bringing elites down to common level...and raising the level of the workers...provides jobs...builds democracy - how these are the real differences in left/right.

The replies I got ended up saying "piss off leftie!", businesses create opportunities, and jobs, high taxes will drive doctors and business-men away from america.....blah blah blah. All standard capitalist free-market stuff. But with seemingly no realisation that they're essentially defending the status quo they spend the rest of their time attacking. Bizarre as hell.

Me disinfo? hehe. Course not - rasta don't work for no CIA. I'm no rasta, but the sentiment is the same. I won't delete the place - no chance.

I like Einstein's straightforward approach - I like how it puts marxist-socialism on a proper footing - of an ethical/scientific/progressive footing - but accepting of the difficulties faced in achieving it - esp. without implementing another monolithic, grey dictatorship.

It makes me burn seeing Alex Jones and co rant and rave about "evil" of socialism - and all the rubbish they go on about it. Particularly when they're really obviously working towards fascism. That's my motivation....along with the accumulated ills of capitalism, in the real world, of course. Why I have such motivations I'm not sure. I've never properly been able to answer that. Self-interest, perhaps - as my interests would be better served by socialism: my life would be much better, and more secure imo. And almost everyone else's too. I dunno - where do such urges spring from?the_last_name_lefthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12276770064991215910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2904940198922843174.post-9322477685072907112009-08-12T08:33:02.014+01:002009-08-12T08:33:02.014+01:00Helen Keller was also a socialist. Back in the day...Helen Keller was also a socialist. Back in the day, there was a solid movement for this in the States. That socialism is considered a dirty word is nothing short of propaganda. Oooh, that evil new world order, wake up you sheople, friggen sassafrassa. That last bit was my cyber impersonation of Yosemite Sam who used to go up against Bugs Bunny. You better not be disinfo or delete this place. I'm tired of getting burned.Tokyo Shemphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01764134901412321022noreply@blogger.com
